Mare Island Brewing Co. in Vallejo, CA is searching for a Head Brewer to add to our senior management ranks.  

Our Coal Shed Brewery (your office) is located on the waterfront on the former Mare Island Naval Shipyard.  Opened in 2017, we transformed this historic Navy coal shed into a state-of-the-art 8,000sqft brewery and taproom.

We brew magic on our 15bbl Prospero brewhouse and 1bbl Blichmann Pilot systems.  In August 2020, we installed our brand-new CODI 6-head counter-pressure filling canning line with depalletizer and in-line labeler.  We have an awesome, small, and dedicated production team that we have trained from scratch and are ready for your leadership.  Our third retail taproom location will be opening in the coming weeks and we are self-distributed throughout the Bay with over 120 current and active accounts.  The only piece we are missing at this point, is you.

The Head Brewer position at Mare Island Brewing Co. has plenty of room for growth, sits on the senior management team and reports directly to the Co-Founder.

Responsibilities:

• Brewery Operations Management
• Production Team Management
• Quality Control
• Inventory Control
• Raw Ingredient Sourcing
• Recipe Development
• Laboratory Controls
• Equipment Upkeep and Preventative Maintenance
• Facility Maintenance

Anything else asked of Management Team: beer festival pouring, beer club party bartending, cleaning tap lines, taking out the trash, planning team outings, hanging historic pictures, setting up the stage for the band...we all do it all.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of progressing, professional brewing experience.  We are looking for you to bring your experience and education to the table
• 21+ years old
• You must love beer and believe in its ability to save the world
• Computer proficiency with excellent communication skills; Excel, Word, Email
• Ability to pivot at a moment's notice responding to daily changes
• Strong mechanical knowledge
• Team oriented. Sorry, No Lone Wolves.
• A passion for cleanliness
• Meticulous record keeping
• Ability to lift/maneuver up to 165lbs (full 1/2 keg)
• Forklift Ninja
• 40+ hours/week
